SC Department of Public Safety Administrative Assistant/Customer Service Trainer - 109205 in Statewide, South Carolina
This position is_ based in Upstate Region DMV Branch offices and may travel to other offices required by the CST Coordinator.*_ *Under limited supervision, the Customer Service Trainer trains new employees on all driver and vehicle transactions. Administers road test for all classes of drivers license including commercial drivers license (CDL) and performs routine to complex transactions in a customer service center.
The Customer Service Trainer may be called upon to perform some or all of the following job duties:
Travels throughout the state to administer the 4 week new employee training program as needed. Conducts assessments, record results and forwards to Customer Service Training Coordinator on a weekly basis.
Perform driver and vehicle services such as administering knowledge tests, registering and titling vehicles, surrendering license plates and boxing plates, registering applicants to vote and selective service if required, issuing driver license and managing public inquiries.
Collect and reconcile all fees related to driver and vehicle services and prepare daily report.
Administer road test for all classes and evaluate their ability to drive.
Based in the Upstate Region but travels to other offices required by CST Coordinator to conduct training or perform other duties as required.
Successfully creates a PowerPoint presentation and briefs to the reviewing team. Must complete at least one annually but is not limited to the number that may be required.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
State requirements: A high school diploma and work experience that is directly related to the area of employment. A bachelor's degree may be substituted for the related work experience . Department requirements: A high school diploma and four (4) years of work experience that is directly related to the area of employment. Must have at least two (2) years of DMV experience. Must have a valid South Carolina drivers license with a reasonably good driving history. The Customer Service Trainer reports directly to the Customer Service Trainer Coordinator with general supervision.
Must complete a nationwide background check to include finger prints prior to being certified to administer CDL knowledge skill tests. Before being certified to administer CDL knowledge skill tests must complete a formal CDL test examiner trainer course and examination that includes Introduction to CDL Licensing System, Overview of the CDL Test and Knowledge Test.

Must have a valid South Carolina drivers license with a reasonably good driving history.
Thorough and detailed knowledge of South Carolina Motor Vehicle Laws and regulations and SC DMV policies and procedures. Ability to train and mentor customer service employees. Thorough knowledge of driver licensing eligibility requirements. Excellent customer service skills with internal and external customers.
The work requires sitting and/or standing for prolonged periods of time, walking, and constant talking. Employee is exposed to warm or cold temperatures and inclement weather when working outside. Physical skills include lifting, reaching, and climbing in and out of vehicles. Subject to limited overtime and overnight state travel.
